We compared quotes at 10 insurance companies using five different types of drivers and found that Grange, Erie, and Statefarm had some of the top three cheapest auto insurance rates for our researched driver groups.

The lowest average quote was $477 from Erie, $82 cheaper than the best deal we found for 30-year-old good drivers who commute daily. Grange and State Farm were the next cheapest options, respectively. One should keep in mind that although Erie offered the cheapest rates for this study, many different factors determine the final auto insurance quote. We found that typically Grange Insurance company offered the cheapest rates for Ohio drivers.
